Where The Top Songs Came From
Apple Music reached the top for the first time with “Mama, I Made It” a country song by Lauren Watkins, which offers a refreshing twist on the typical post-breakup homecoming and showcases Watkins’ ability to mix humor with pain.
At #2 in the Top 10 Songs of July 2024 chart, Spotify brought us Sam Alfred’s latest remix of Royel Otis’ “Foam”‘ Known for his signature house and techno sound, reminiscent of the ’90s, Sam adds his unique touch to the track.
For the first time on the podium we had a user-submitted song by GUM and his “Powertrippn`‘”, a song which stands out for its lyrical depth and musical richness.
At #4 in the Top 10 Songs of July 2024 KEXP introduced us to “Paloma” by Angélica Garcia, a latin song described by the artist as a cosmic and ever-present message of love.
On Stereogum, we discovered “Encore” by Shygirl. This song, featuring Danny L Harle, comes with a music video directed by Ferina that is worth watching.
Passenger 10’ “Through Autistic Eyes” reached the sixth spot, courtesy of Nora En Pure. This song aims to offer a glimpse into the sensory experiences of an individual with autism.
Kink FM, the Dutch radio station dedicated to alternative music, served up the pop anthem “Bring Back The Beat” by Pixey. Written and produced in collaboration with Jungle’s Tom McFarland, the track acts as an ode to Pixey’s sample-led roots, harking back to a vintage sound in a fresh way.
DMY, the music company with the mission to help artists make a sustainable income from their music, made us discover at #9 “Be There” by Jay Prince who has earned a reputation as one of the most creative artists of his time thanks to his collaborations with Tyler The Creator, Paul Epworth and Mura Masa.
Closing the Top 10 Songs of July 2024 chart, we had another user-submitted track: “Friends Around (Set It Off)” by Ferreck Dawn and GUZ, two Dutch powerhouses who teamed up for this track on Defected Records.
